When Darkness Falls
Posted by Intuition Girl
When you were little, were you afraid of the dark? It is okay to admit you were. Many of us have had fears about something we could not see, or we imagined to be real. Hallows Eve brings back memories of witches brew, candied apples, ghosts and ghouls, and everything in between. But for some of us, there are real fears of the unknown – fears from past trauma, fears of isolation, fears about loneliness and even fears about guilt. All too often, we would rather live with those constant fears than face them head on.
It is tough trying to wade through those murky waters. It is much easier just to forget what has made us so fearful and continue to live in those confines. We become complacent in fact, knowing that we can blame something or someone for the life choices we have made. But what happens when it becomes habitual? What I mean by that is what if you continue to repeat the same behavior and the same reactions time and time again – each time, with a worse outcome? Do you always blame that past event, situation or person for the choices you continue to make? More often than not, you probably are. It is actually quite convenient to say, “If it weren’t for so and so, I wouldn’t be in this situation.” Imagine however, if you really had to accept your own responsibility in what is happening in your life. Oh no, the dreaded, “I goofed up. I made a mistake.” The consequence of that is your acceptance to be responsible for the action or inaction. The ultimate outcome is a learning experience in which you can absolve yourself by forgiving yourself and moving forward. Once you do, you are ready to go beyond those confines and understand what it is you need to do the next time to successfully overcome it.
No more “boos” or demons in your life! From this day forward, I want you to take a proactive lead in your life to forgive your fears. Rise above your complacency and understand that you are making a full and conscious choice to take control of your life and the life decisions you will make. Remember, no one or nothing can make you do the things that you do, or feel the way you feel. The next time darkness falls, know that you are not be alone, but there just might be a lesson or message for you to figure out. You might need to step back and take a look at where you are in your life in an honest and truthful manner then take the steps to release the experience and prepare not to let it happen again.

Becoming as strong as the Rock
Posted by Intuition Girl
I often think of the Rock of Gibraltar as its history is as rich as the saying that often accompanies its beauty: “to be as strong as the Rock of Gibraltar”. When you have grown to become strong enough to overcome situations without fear of failure, you become a symbol of strength and courage to those around you. That is the greatest lesson that you can teach your child. No matter what challenges or hurdles come your way, you are going to show your child that through faith and inner strength, you can prevail no matter what.
No one is perfect and we all realize that. And even when we are faced with difficulties that make us feel less than superhuman, we know that again the sun will rise, the skies will clear and despite the hardships that come our way – we, too shall rise above the circumstance. It is when we give into our fears, our sorrows, our feelings of overwhelm that we get knocked off balances. We must always remember to be the “Rock”. Our children and those who put their trust in us see us as beacons, leaning posts, mentors, teachers and confidents. When we lose our own footing we cannot genuinely give them the strength and encouragement to become leaders in their own right. We must always remember that unlike Gibraltar, change is ever happening as do the events and relationships in our lives. Always stay true to yourself.
Laying the foundation
“But I’m not that strong, Joan Marie. I just don’t have it in me to face the challenges in my life,” you say? Ah, but you do. Actually, each day that you conquer that hurdle, you are one step closer to winning the race. You have ultimately already defeated those difficulties that would otherwise hinder you just by making it through the end of the day. Where are you now? Acknowledge the problems that you are encountering, embrace them, learn from them and grow. That’s it. That is the foundation to becoming stronger every day. You either learn from your trials and develop a sense of strength and courage to conquer them the next time, or you keep falling into the same trap with the “But I’m not that strong” self-pity bargaining chip. The choice is yours. Become like the Rock of Gibraltar and let nothing stop you from having joy, success and peace in your life. When your confidence shows, those around you will respect you and the Universal flow of energy will elevate you to where you need to be in life.

Slam Dunk!

The ball is in your court. You have the opportunity to make a three-pointer from the goal line. At first there is a loud roar, and the other players are watching your every move. As your eyes focus on the net, the only thing stirring on your body is the bead of sweat rolling down your forehead. Just as quickly as the crowd roared, there is a sudden silence. Not even a hush can be heard around the court. The only thing between you and the net is your clear concentration to make the ball through the hoop. All your hard work and efforts have finally paid off. What you do with that ball at this moment is going to affect the outcome of the game…and maybe even your future as a professional ball player. Do you take the shot or do you walk away?
Nothing is impossible to those who believe. Do not refuse to move onward and upward to grab your greatness! Possibly you just say to yourself-I can’t do it-it is too hard! Dreams can become reality for you when you choose to manifest the power of you inner abilities and your inner soul. When you seek the courage in your heart like so many have done before you, you pave the way to achieving that what you truly desire in life. Do not forget that you are already standing on the court. The ball is either within reach or maybe even in your hands.
Whatever it is that you are choosing to pursue at this moment — a job, a new home, a relationship — is entirely within your own hands. You shape your reality…you choose your destiny. Are you going to take the shot? For what are you waiting? This moment will not last forever. At some point you must make that initial forward motion and keep the momentum going. Life waits for no one and the longer you stand in the same spot, the further you fall behind and the more you lose sight of your focus. I have said it before and I am saying it again, “keep it going. Keep it going.” Set your sights and take the shot at the goal — if you believe, nothing is impossible.

Putting Thoughts to Birth
Posted by Intuition Girl
Let’s think about that title for a minute: “Putting thoughts to birth.” How do you put a thought to birth, you ask? Some of you may have watched the film, “Frequency” starring Dennis Quaid. In the film, the main character was somewhat able to travel through time via frequency radio. Each time he did, he was able to change the course of events by communicating future event information to his father. Essentially, he was able to plant the notion of what may come and in doing so, his father was successfully able to thwart negative events from occurring. Of course that was just a Sci-Fi flick, but in reality, if we plant the thought of what we want to see happen, we have the capability to make those things come into fruition. In that same instance, we have the capacity to transform the outcomes that we want to achieve in our not-so-distant futures.
How do we put thoughts to birth? Turning water into wine may take an act of God, but making lemonade out of lemons only takes a little effort if we give it a try. When was the last time you really wanted something so badly that you were willing to do just about anything to get it? I know a lot of you might say that you have, but how many of you have actually acquired that “thing” or that goal that you wanted? If you put your thought to birth, then you successfully planted the seeds of action to manifest your heart’s desires. You must birth your idea to give it the freedom to spread its wings and fly. If you have bottled it up in your mind and allowed it to stay hidden, then it is just that: an idea that has nowhere to grow. It is an unborn thought. What is it that you truly want to change in your life?
A client once asked me, “Joan Marie, you make change happen so effortlessly. What is your secret?” My secret is no secret at all. Change is never easy. In fact, it is one of the most difficult tasks to man. Even if we look at the literal and figurative birth of a thought in relation to an infant, it is a major transition. We go from the comfort of a safe and comfortable space, knowing our surroundings, understanding that we are being cared for, to rapidly having to move forward into an unknown territory. Suddenly, we are having to deal with a whole new set of responsibilities and circumstances. The comfort, however, is knowing that this new territory is a better place – a larger place where we can expand and grow in so many new ways. Life opportunities are unlimited when we are no longer afraid to put our thoughts to birth and go with the flow of change. That is the real secret.
I believe, as should you all, that when you put your thoughts and words to action, dreams can and will become reality. It is never a matter of whether you can or cannot; more so, a matter of whether you truly want to or not.

Once upon a Dream
Posted by Intuition Girl
Imagine running a relay race. The odds are stacked against you but you are fit – mind, body and spirit. Just before the race, your heart is pumping and you are so focused on the goal that you are not going to let anyone or anything deter you. Some of your competition might even be faster than you, but you have the focus and discipline to take the right moves to get to where you need to be. No matter what, you are going to pass that baton and win the race. You are so ready that you can taste the sweetness of victory. Now see yourself running in the race. You are going full stride — the only thing you can hear are the pounding of your feet hitting the earth below you and your breath. Suddenly you trip and fall. What do you do next?
Quitters never win, and winners never quit…
Why is it just when we have our dreams within grasp, we allow small hurdles to stop us from reaching out and grabbing what is rightfully ours? If you have worked hard, laid the foundation for your success, and can see it in the near distance, then you must pursue it. That means you have to pick yourself up, brush yourself off, and keep on going. Keep your heart, mind and spirit focused on the end goal and never allow challenges to spoil the day. When you believe in yourself, anything is possible.
“I just can’t do it”…
Does that sound all too familiar? Do you constantly tell yourself that you just can’t do it? Are you simply “existing” in life or are you embracing every ounce of life with passion and courage? If you are so caught up in the routine of “existence” and nothing else, then for what are you living? There is never a “perfect time” or “perfect place” for dreams to come true. The dreams we perceive in our mind’s eye are the dreams that we must create and manifest in our own realities.
For a moment, I want you to focus on this sentence: ” You are so ready that you can taste the sweetness of victory.” Did you know that you were born ready to succeed? Yes, you are. Do not give in so easily. There is no time like the present time to make good on life’s promise that guarantees you success if you truly want it. Give yourself the room in your life to get back on track to feed that burning fire inside you — the passion to achieve greatness and to lead a joy-filled life. After all, you are the keeper of your dreams. Do not waste those dreams on challenges and feelings of defeat. You must always rise to meet the challenge, overcome it, and win the day. Don’t let a small trip-up to stop you!
