What you create, you become
Posted by Intuition Girl
In the Ghetto is a 20th Century hit song made famous by King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley. If you have not heard it, I encourage you to listen to it. It is a beautiful song but it is also a very tragic one. As you listen to its lyrics, you discover a cruel cycle of dismal circumstances. It tells a story about an impoverished mother giving birth to a baby boy in the ghetto of Chicago. As the ballad begins, the infant’s mother cries as she is already downtrodden and “if there’s one thing that she don’t need, it’s another hungry mouth to feed”. The stage has already been set for failure because the mother is riddled with lack – both financially and emotionally. Automatically, it is assumed that because of these conditions, this young infant will one day grow to be an angry young man. The tragedy is not so much that it actually transpires, but ultimately that the self-fulfilling prophecy leads to a young man’s demise. This is part of the Pygmalion Effect.
In society, people are often stereotyped by others – especially in relationship to social class and education (or rather lack thereof). James Rhem, Ph.D., has said, “How we believe the world is and what we honestly think it can become have powerful effects on how things will turn out.” Ability can and does play a role in what we achieve in life, but in the end, perception and confidence in realizing these achievements are the most critical factors. That is why I encourage you to focus on your blessings and bounty not your inadequacies or lack. If you believe you are unable to be successful in life, then in reality that is what you will experience; your thoughts and words will become a self-prophecy.
As the title suggests, what you create, you become. The truth of the matter is that your belief system – the psychological and emotional kind which adhere to your belief in self and how far you will be able to go in life is the deciding force that will enable you to succeed. For instance, if you tell a child that she can do anything she wants if she sets her mind to it, you equip her with a powerful mindset to realize her potentiality. If you tell that same child she will never amount to anything, you eventually destroy her spirit and the willpower to create success and happiness. A campaign slogan used by the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) in 1972, “A mind is a terrible thing to waste,” has helped empower over 400,000 minority students to graduate college. The UNCF further reiterated that people have the capacity to do amazing things, but without an education they will never have the opportunity. It is a powerful belief system – knowing that when you empower others (and self) to create and achieve wondrous things, that all things are indeed possible.
Today, I want you to create what you want to become—stop holding onto negative statements or teachings that have told you otherwise. You are a powerful and an emotionally intelligent being. You have the mind-power to create and accomplish extraordinary things in your life if and when you set your mind to it. If you have been thinking about going back to school and keep putting it off – why? If you want to start your own business but do not believe you can be successful – why? No matter your age or circumstance, I encourage you to pursue your dreams. Nurture the seeds of your mind, heart and soul and blossom into the wondrous gift that you are. No man, no situation, no economic factor, no deed, and no thought can ever prevent you from achieving your life dreams. The miracle you have been searching for is you.

Mission Impossible
Posted by Intuition Girl
Do you feel like every time you turn around, you are facing mission impossible? Nothing you do seems to work out the way you want it. You appear to be running in circles and you keep having the same situations come up in your life. Does that sound like you? Maybe the proverbial “lit fuse” is you. Perhaps you have become your worst own enemy.
Whether you realize it or not, your actions, behaviors and perception may be hindering your progress in life. When your daily routine becomes mission impossible, you need to rethink and recreate your current lifestyle. “But I don’t do anything differently than other people,” you say? Well, let’s take a look at where you are and the issues you are encountering:
- Is your loved one making you feel miserable?
- Do you see yourself in a dead-end job?
- Are you a hoarder, holding onto way too much clutter in your home?
- Are you afraid to move forward with your goals?
- Are you still trying to live in the past?
- Have you lost track of who you are?
If you answered yes to any of the above questions, then you might just be creating your own mission impossible in life. In order to become whole and happy, you must focus on what is attainable and what makes you feel truly alive. If your relationships with work, your significant other, your health or your friendships are putting a strain on your emotional, mental or physical wellbeing then it is time to reshape your perception on what is working and what is not. If you, yourself, are experiencing emotional barriers that prevent you from being happy and healthy, then you must discover what those emotional blockages are so that you can face them, release them and head them off at the pass.
Your missions in life do not have to become fearful and tedious. Only you have the innate control to overcome any misconceptions or trepidation that you may have in achieving success and true happiness. There is an old affirmation that many individuals use to help maneuver life’s sometimes murky trails:
“Please grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.”
Should you ever feel like your life has taken you on seemingly impossible missions, I want you to stop whatever it is you are doing and take a long, deep breath. Say the affirmation above and lose yourself to the Universal flow of energy. All things will be revealed to you when you are ready to receive them. Once you have, your impossible mission will transform into the blessings and opportunities that you have been missing all along.

Not Good Enough
Posted by Intuition Girl
Today you may have a financially-sound career and you may have earned the respect of your colleagues. But when you get home at the end of the day, you feel like something is missing from your life. Perhaps your personal life is empty – even if you have a significant other or “friends” on Facebook. Why do you feel the way you do? What triggers in your daily routine keep coming up that bring these past emotional wounds to the surface? Is it the stress of juggling career and home? Is it because you are the breadwinner and you feel like you are carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders? Or is it because deep inside, you just do not feel good enough to have something or be something better in your life?
Remember that little boy or girl who tried so hard to love and to be loved; and no matter what the child tried to do, it seemed to not be good enough for others? Some of you still battle with that child within. You may appear to have balanced lives, comfortable houses and nice cars… but your relationships are not whole or in harmony — primarily because within your inner being is that little boy or girl, who is still consciously or unconsciously clinging to past experiences. You put up a barricade so that others can never truly enter into your lives because you are fearful that you may be rejected, deprived, neglected or abused.
How do I overcome my anxieties, you ask? You begin by accepting the past hurts of your life and forgiving yourself and those around you who may have contributed to the feelings and the emotional wall that you have built around yourself. Even if you do not reconcile these issues in person, you only need to say aloud, “I accept who I am. I forgive those who have hurt me. I forgive myself for holding onto the feelings that I have created in my life. I am free.” Each time any triggers or emotions start creeping up in your life, repeat the mantra above. It will help you sort through your challenges and allow you to move forward guilt-free and uninhibited. Remember, only you have the power to overcome your emotional burdens. If you continue to focus on what is no longer a part of your life, you will build your metaphorical wall higher and higher until you can no longer see over it.
You are good enough. In fact, you are better than just “good enough”. You are unique in every way. When you begin to see beyond your emotional wall, you will finally be free from what has chained you for far too long.

Are You Fighting Two Sides of You?

How to overcome your inner battle
We’ve all been at various points in our lives where we fight our inner demons to determine which way to turn to achieve success. These inner battles are actually quite necessary because they are what lead to both a spiritual healing and emotional healing process of the mind, body, and spirit. While you may not think it’s important to use meditation to develop your intuition at these times in our lives, quite the opposite is true. In fact, when you are battling the “two sides of you,” it is the perfect time to promote healing through meditation.
When I talk about the “two sides of you,” I’m referring to the inner struggle of the mind and soul – one side of you truly wants to manifest success in all areas of your life; the other side of you feels like giving up on your dreams because of current economic situations, past emotional traumas, physical health conditions, or relationship problems, among others. On which side are you presently focused?
To better explain the “two sides of you,” there’s an old story, where a man tells his grandson about two battling wolves that dwell within our spirit. One wolf is gentle and good-natured; while the other wolf is filled with anger and other negative emotions. Each metaphorical wolf wants to dominate the individual’s spirit. The grandson, in his amusement, asks his grandfather, “Which one wins?” To which, the grandfather replies, “The one you feed.” This simple story relays how intuition and emotional healing can play a vital part in bringing about success in one’s life.
If you want success stories like the rich and famous, you must use your intuition to positively feed your spirit. Like chicken soup for the soul, you must fine-tune your intuition by practicing daily meditation.
Even if your spiritual healing meditation is just five minutes each day, you will amaze yourself with the results you achieve. It’s not just about feeding your positive thoughts and emotions; it’s about properly training your mind and soul to become the person you want to be. Your success depends on how you draw from your intuition to manifest the lifestyle you want to have and lead in life. Remember, happiness is what you make it; which side of you wins the battle is entirely up to you.
