5 Tips on the Art of Forgiveness

Posted by Intuition Girl

Are you stuck in a rut and cannot seem to find the end of the tunnel?  Did you ever think that you might possibly be preventing yourself from moving forward by holding onto past hurts and other emotional baggage?  In my practice, I have met so many clients who truly want to change the course of their direction but simply have no clue on how to proceed. I have found that the initial step to creating wealth and prosperity in life is to first learn the art of forgiveness. Don’t laugh. I mean it. We all hold onto resentful feelings and guilt. We let these emotions take over our daily living and even our entire lifetimes. It’s not easy carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders when you’re trying to climb a mountain.

Let’s discuss five tips that can help you learn the art of forgiveness so you too, can begin to enjoy the fruits of your labor without the added stress of that heavy load you’ve been shouldering. From here on out, I want you to remember the acronym: SILLY

  1. Strategize. With any successful encounter, we have to plan a strategy that works best to benefit our individual lifestyles.  What do you really want out of life? If you are trying to climb the corporate ladder or just want to find peace with a significant other, then you must gear yourself up to meet the task at hand. That means you need to come to terms with your emotions and draw out a plan of action to put those monsters to rest. First, write out all the feelings you’ve been harboring: guilt, anger, frustration, malaise, intimidation, inferiority, low self-esteem, hatred, sorrow… you name it, write it down. Now, look at that list. One by one, I want you to try and recreate each feeling associated with the word you have written. Can’t do it, can you? Good. Next, cross off each word on your list. Breathe in. Smile. That’s the first step.
  2. Implement. Since you’ve crossed off your list of negative emotions, you’ve already made a major step toward realizing your potentiality through forgiveness. Let’s take that and run with it… say aloud to your self: “I forgive myself for ___________ (fill in the blank). My emotions no longer have control over me. I am in control of my life. No words or feelings can stop me from moving forward from this moment onward.”
  3. Learn. We’ve all had past encounters that weren’t always the best experiences. The good news is that when we allow forgiveness in our lives, we are forgiving ourselves and releasing all the negative energies that have infiltrated our daily routines and relationships. Know from your experiences that learning forgiveness is fundamental in creating happiness in life. Whether it’s an old supervisor who seemingly drove you to the brink of insanity, or a past love that may have broken your heart… only you have the power over your emotions. Your boss didn’t make you insane. Your significant other did not break your heart. In all actuality, it was your emotions getting the better of you. So let’s learn from those experiences and know that only you can determine your feelings and the outcome of those feelings.
  4. Love.Ah, love is such a simple four-letter word but it holds such deep and profound meaning in itself. When you forgive yourself, you are honoring yourself and replenishing the love within you. Just as a beautiful rose bud opens to full blossom, you too will open to your full potential when you learn to love and forgive yourself so that you can become the beautiful rose among the thorns that life may toss your way.
  5. You. You are a magnificent living thing. When you focus on yourself and learn that you have so many powerful and wonderful things going for you, you begin to understand the nature of life and how to better cope with negative events and encounters. When you breathe, are you intentionally working to breathe or is your inherent life force doing that for you? Your life force is the central, most significant aspect of your daily life. It keeps your heart pumping, your lungs breathing, your eyes seeing, your nose smelling, your ears hearing… and somewhere in the mix of all these actions is your intuitive consciousness that allows you to see beyond the realm of your physical constitution. Your intuitive consciousness is also a constant. It never waivers. It never falters. But it is there for you and with you. It is that essence of “You” within that when released from the burdens of negativity becomes the abundant source of your very beingness. And it all begins with the art of forgiveness.

Isn’t it time to become SILLY, bask in your uniqueness and just let forgiveness back into your heart so you can be the best you can be? Let me help you take your life journey to the next level by joining me on my upcoming Program on Forgiveness…you have nothing to lose and opportunities to gain!

Help me to see through my fears

Posted by Intuition Girl

Question # 2

Joan Marie, your newsletters have truly inspired me and I wanted to reach out at this time in my life when I am seeing a big boulder sitting right in front of me. I push people away and I am resistant to great advice and suggestions when they are presented to me. Please help me see through my fears so I can understand why I push people and opportunities away. I am so grateful for your help.

Karen H., Chicago

Answer:

Dear Karen:

Thank you for your beautiful note. So many of us push away our many gifts and opportunities without even realizing it; however, your awareness is a blessing and a chance for you to flow more easily. Pushing people away is a form of protecting yourself from getting hurt. Please look at all the people that hurt you and see the patterns you have created. Have you put yourself in a box hoping to keep everyone else out? That is your protection mechanism so you will not get hurt. It is almost as if you are walking around wounded and saying I won’t let anyone hurt me again.

I also encourage you to look at your need to be right or maybe you unconsciously feel that “I know it all.” The greatest opportunity for all of us is to become a student and listen to others suggestions and/or critiques. If you honestly believe that a suggestion does not feel right to you than yes, by all means respect that. However, my feeling for you is once you open up your heart to receive a helping hand many more opportunities will come your way.

Life is about giving and receiving—allow yourself to be in alignment for both and watch the flow of blessing come to you.

Many Blessings,

Waking up to 2012

Posted by Intuition Girl

It appears all over the internet—fear, worry and concern about the coming of 2012. We are all hearing the doomsday messages across the board.  We hear about Mayan prophecies, we hear about Nostradamus, we hear about climate change, we hear about solar flares…and we have not even gotten started on all the earth changes that have been happening around us!    It is true that 2012 will be here soon and so much hype has already be spun around this year…but how we perceive it in advance and what we do as we encounter the possible change, can and will create the difference between peace and happiness, and fear and distress. We are all hearing the doomsday messages across the board.  I encourage you first—do not panic. Take a breath. Calm your nerves. Now, breathe again and get grounded.

For just a few minutes, I want you to reflect on the here and now. The year is 2010. We are at a pivotal time in history where we have the choice to decide our destiny. We can follow the lead of what terrible fate some are predicting or we can choose to live in the moment of now. Who in your life has meaning to you? What in your life has meaning to you? You see, you are all that you are. Your intuitive nature wants you to attach yourself to positive energy and go with the gentle flow of the universe. The more you let go and let God, the more you find that you can live in the present moment of inner peace, enlightenment, and the free spirit that resides within you. It is not necessary to live in state of constant paralysis because no matter what happens, you will find the strength and inner wisdom to overcome all things great and small.

We still have two years to get our acts together. Now is not the time to be running around like Chicken Little screaming “the sky is falling!”  We have too much to live for in the moment of now. Make your awakening in the here and now so that you can choose your destiny…program your life to become one of greatness and happiness. You can have the inner peace that you desire if you so resolve to pursue that path…but if you choose the latter – to live in a state of alarm and anxiety, it will lead you down a negative, winding path that will only bring you grief and misery.

Wake up to 2012 so that you will be prepared for the greatness that you are destined to achieve in your life. Wake up to 2012 and leave the fear and stress of what may or may not lie ahead of you. Your very life depends on it. If you live in anxiousness your physical health can and will deteriorate. When you live with inner peace… with the knowingness that all will be well, you will prevail over anything that you may encounter. Breathe. Relax. Know that you are in the right place at the right time; and whatever comes will not be an ending to a means, but a beginning to a new phase in your life.

21st Century Woman – Finding Healing and Self in a Complicated World

Posted by Intuition Girl

Today’s dynamic woman manages the household, has a full-time career, and in her spare time attends soccer games and school plays. She is witty, sexy, smart, quirky, articulate, knowledgeable and the ultimate super mom wrapped in one package. She’s a no-nonsense gal with a professional and personal background to match her multi-tasking skills and she doesn’t waste a moment sweating the small stuff. But she’s also got a sensual side. She’s tender — she’s loving; and she can compete with the likes of Angelina with just the right touch of makeup and a little lift to her hairstyle.

Like most women, however, the female body and mental disposition can shift with the moon’s phases. She experiences a wide array of emotions and mood swings from day to day that can leave others in wonderment as to what is running through her mind. Some of these emotional shifts may be related to physical, chemical or metabolic imbalances (or a combination of the three). There are revealing studies that examine the chemical makeup of women (and men) and the importance of stress reduction in relation to balancing these inequities.

According to an article in Insight Journal, anxiety problems are linked to a number of factors including learned behavior (on how to deal with stress), personality traits, trauma and mental and emotional states. But were you aware that there can be energy imbalances as well? Joan Marie Whelan, renowned intuitive counselor offers the following advice on how to contend with stress to harmonize mind, body and spirit to become harmonized with yourself and the universal flow of energy, “In order to acquire balance in your life you must first and foremost become grounded in your body,” says Whelan, “One can become grounded through meditation.” Whelan states that this exercise helps reduce feelings of stress, overwhelm and even anxiety. She went onto elaborate, “to be grounded – I often tell people to visualize themselves as if they are a big golden oak tree…. Your legs (are the trunk) that go deep into the earth – As you feel into this image; you will actually experience strength and power. This can and will help bring you stability in your life… the symbolism is powerful–the upper parts (of the body) are the branches… you may swing and sway with your challenges but you do not need to fall down because you are so grounded in the earth that you feel empowered.”

In this new millennium, we discover that more individuals are turning to noninvasive CAM therapies to alleviate daily stress and common health disorders. Some of these complementary and alternative medicines like Tai Chi have effectively demonstrated their abilities to help in healing mind, body and soul. Other complementary therapies like meditation and visualization are actively being studied by the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine to determine how exactly these mind-body-spirit therapies can assist in reducing stress, improving concentration and focus, and in pain relief, among other health issues.  In addition to the meditation techniques mentioned earlier, Whelan told me about one of her own exercises that she frequently facilitates for health and wellness — visualizing the sunlight within her core being, “If you can focus and visualize the golden sunlight within you, you will begin to experience it and a sense of calm and peace will gradually flow within you.  As you are placing yourself within the sunlight, think and feel loved.  No negative energy can live in the light.  Ask your Source to fill you with love.  The experience is awesome,” she said.

In addition to health issues, women throughout the ages have sought their rightful places in society. From daughter, to sister, to mother, to wife and beyond, women play integral parts on the stage of life. But how does one truly find her “authentic self”? Whelan explained why discovering your authentic self is essential to leading happier, healthier lifestyles: Your Authentic Self defines the real you, the true essence of who you are – your soul energy,” says Whelan, “When you discover your authentic self, you gain wisdom and strength and you awaken to a deeper sense of whom you are and why you were born.” Whelan added that when individuals discover this form of healing and soul awakening enables the opportunity “to get to know you at a deeper level of your being, your soul—complete with all of your inhibitions and vulnerable threads.”

We’ve all heard about women’s intuition, but what makes intuition a valuable aspect to everyday living and in problem-solving techniques? Whelan explained how innately intuitive we actually are. She said, “Our intuition is also known as our conscience; our gut feelings — our inner voice that shares valuable and basic common sense answers and guidance to our daily living. We are making choices all the time.  Some are helpful and others cause us pain.  If we could only slow down our human-ness and live more in our heart, we would hear the soft, quiet voice of our authentic self share words of wisdom.” She adds that stress, anxiety, frustration, resentment, confusion and anger pressure us beyond our limits.  Her thoughtful advice to women (and men) is: “When we are living in the present moment and allow our actions, attitude and behavior to bring forth messages that express compassion, sharing and caring, we change our body language and our physiology and positive experiences spring forth.  But the reverse is also true.  I am continually asking my inner soul, my little child within together with my spirit guides to help me through the day to give me the courage and strength to see the larger picture and to stay grounded in love and light.”

5 Tips on how to live in Happiness

Posted by Intuition Girl

“Happiness is like a butterfly. The more you chase it, the more it eludes you; but if you turn your attention to other things, it comes and sits softly on your shoulder.”

The anonymous author who wrote this passage had his heart in the right state of mind. Happiness truly is like a butterfly. Too many times, we lose our vision because we’re too busy trying to become content, when contentment has been there all along. I’m going to give you five tips on how to live in happiness so you, too, can catch your own metaphorical butterfly of bliss:

1. Get physical. Remember the old grade school song where the music teacher would sing, “If you’re happy and you know it, and you really want to show it, if you’re happy and you know it, clap your hands”? Well, you don’t have to physically clap your hands (unless you want to) — but to make your body feel healthier and free your spirit from daily rigors, a brisk walk, an impromptu happy dance, or a good physical workout can boost your immunity and improve your mental clarity. So go ahead, clap your hands, stomp your feet, and get your body moving!

2. Meditate. You don’t need a Guru to whip you into a meditation routine, but you must be committed to practicing daily positive affirmations to reinvent your mental thought processes. Focus on a time when you were most happy, or a place that makes you happiest. Once you have that mental picture in your mind, concentrate on it. Put yourself in that place. Smile. Close your eyes and take slow, deep breaths. Inhale. Exhale. Inhale. Exhale. Repeat this mental exercise as much as you need to calm your nerves. It’s amazing what a little meditation can do for the mind, body, and soul.

3. Skip the junk food. I’m no nutritionist, but I know what junk foods like greasy French fries and potato chips can do to my body. But junk foods just don’t affect your physical wellbeing; they affect your emotional state of wellness, too. When you put garbage into your body, it limits your mental capacity to think positively. Eating healthy, whole foods like nuts, and raw veggies and fruits can perk your mind, body, and spirit.

4. Journal. Why do you think diaries are such a popular-selling item? It’s not just because little girls want to share their deepest, darkest secrets – diaries, or life journals are superb emotional healing and self-growth tools that help individuals understand and resolve life problems. They’re also great to write out dreams, goals, and desires of the heart. The coolest part about journaling is that you don’t need a degree in journalism or any other special training to write out your thoughts and ideas. Think of your life journal as your personal mind notebook. When you put your goals to paper, it’s so much easier to concentrate on those goals without losing touch with reality. Try it – once you do, you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

5. Smile. Do you know that frowning brings down your whole spirit? When you smile, you can feel your eyes lifting, your cheeks wincing, your forehead rising, and your whole body feels light and like it’s atop of the world. Frowning, on the other hand brings your whole composure down. Don’t be a sloucher. Smile. Laugh. Read a joke. Share a joke. Watch a comedy or a cartoon. Think back to a time where you laughed so hard that it made your stomach hurt. What made you laugh that way? Smiling is the ultimate in living in happiness. If you practice active smiling every where you go, you will attract more smiles and positivity toward you. Go ahead and smile. Because remember, when you smile, the whole world smiles with you. When you cry, you cry alone.

Until we speak again,

I am,
