How do I deal with rude people?
Posted by Intuition Girl
Question # 1
Hi Joan Marie:
Thank you for your newsletters…I really enjoy them and always find them helpful. I was wondering if you could offer any advice for dealing with a problem that I’ve confronted many times in my life. I’m generally a very gentle and kind person, but when I run across rude people I often feel the need to confront them, whether their rudeness is directed toward me, a friend of mine, or even a stranger. It’s not that I want to fight or argue with anyone, but I guess I feel that if I call them on their behavior that maybe I will be able to say something that will resonate with them and make them see how wrong they are. I know it’s not my job to try to change people’s behavior, though (and of course, calling out rude people on their behavior usually just makes them even more angry).
What’s the best, most positive way to deal with those sorts of situations? Confronting people has not usually proven to be constructive, so how can I learn to save my sanity and not take other people’s bad behavior to heart?
Blessings to you, Mary Scott
ANSWER
Dear Mary:
In life it is important for us to remember that we are all mirrors of each other. Therefore, if someone is being rude the best thing you can do is to take a step back and see where in you does this resonates. I am sure you are surprised by my answer and maybe even shocked but the truth is if someone is bothering you it is because you have unfinished business within yourself that needs to be dealt with. The Universe has a clever way of getting our attention.
In life it is healthy for all of us to become observer’s of others and not necessarily participants in someone else’s movie. One thing I can offer is for you to have loving, compassionate conversations with those you feel are rude and talk with them about it, that is, talk about their tone and what they are saying and how it affects you. After all that is who you are really talking about. Once you heal that aspect within yourself, rude individuals will not affect you.
Many Blessings,

Today’s dynamic woman manages the household, has a full-time career, and in her spare time attends soccer games and school plays. She is witty, sexy, smart, quirky, articulate, knowledgeable and the ultimate super mom wrapped in one package. She’s a no-nonsense gal with a professional and personal background to match her multi-tasking skills and she doesn’t waste a moment sweating the small stuff. But she’s also got a sensual side. She’s tender — she’s loving; and she can compete with the likes of Angelina with just the right touch of makeup and a little lift to her hairstyle.
Like most women, however, the female body and mental disposition can shift with the moon’s phases. She experiences a wide array of emotions and mood swings from day to day that can leave others in wonderment as to what is running through her mind. Some of these emotional shifts may be related to physical, chemical or metabolic imbalances (or a combination of the three). There are revealing studies that examine the chemical makeup of women (and men) and the importance of stress reduction in relation to balancing these inequities.
According to an article in Insight Journal, anxiety problems are linked to a number of factors including learned behavior (on how to deal with stress), personality traits, trauma and mental and emotional states. But were you aware that there can be energy imbalances as well? Joan Marie Whelan, renowned intuitive counselor offers the following advice on how to contend with stress to harmonize mind, body and spirit to become harmonized with yourself and the universal flow of energy, “In order to acquire balance in your life you must first and foremost become grounded in your body,” says Whelan, “One can become grounded through meditation.” Whelan states that this exercise helps reduce feelings of stress, overwhelm and even anxiety. She went onto elaborate, “to be grounded – I often tell people to visualize themselves as if they are a big golden oak tree…. Your legs (are the trunk) that go deep into the earth – As you feel into this image; you will actually experience strength and power. This can and will help bring you stability in your life… the symbolism is powerful–the upper parts (of the body) are the branches… you may swing and sway with your challenges but you do not need to fall down because you are so grounded in the earth that you feel empowered.”
In this new millennium, we discover that more individuals are turning to noninvasive CAM therapies to alleviate daily stress and common health disorders. Some of these complementary and alternative medicines like Tai Chi have effectively demonstrated their abilities to help in healing mind, body and soul. Other complementary therapies like meditation and visualization are actively being studied by the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine to determine how exactly these mind-body-spirit therapies can assist in reducing stress, improving concentration and focus, and in pain relief, among other health issues. In addition to the meditation techniques mentioned earlier, Whelan told me about one of her own exercises that she frequently facilitates for health and wellness — visualizing the sunlight within her core being, “If you can focus and visualize the golden sunlight within you, you will begin to experience it and a sense of calm and peace will gradually flow within you. As you are placing yourself within the sunlight, think and feel loved. No negative energy can live in the light. Ask your Source to fill you with love. The experience is awesome,” she said.
In addition to health issues, women throughout the ages have sought their rightful places in society. From daughter, to sister, to mother, to wife and beyond, women play integral parts on the stage of life. But how does one truly find her “authentic self”? Whelan explained why discovering your authentic self is essential to leading happier, healthier lifestyles: “Your Authentic Self defines the real you, the true essence of who you are – your soul energy,” says Whelan, “When you discover your authentic self, you gain wisdom and strength and you awaken to a deeper sense of whom you are and why you were born.” Whelan added that when individuals discover this form of healing and soul awakening enables the opportunity “to get to know you at a deeper level of your being, your soul—complete with all of your inhibitions and vulnerable threads.”
We’ve all heard about women’s intuition, but what makes intuition a valuable aspect to everyday living and in problem-solving techniques? Whelan explained how innately intuitive we actually are. She said, “Our intuition is also known as our conscience; our gut feelings — our inner voice that shares valuable and basic common sense answers and guidance to our daily living. We are making choices all the time. Some are helpful and others cause us pain. If we could only slow down our human-ness and live more in our heart, we would hear the soft, quiet voice of our authentic self share words of wisdom.” She adds that stress, anxiety, frustration, resentment, confusion and anger pressure us beyond our limits. Her thoughtful advice to women (and men) is: “When we are living in the present moment and allow our actions, attitude and behavior to bring forth messages that express compassion, sharing and caring, we change our body language and our physiology and positive experiences spring forth. But the reverse is also true. I am continually asking my inner soul, my little child within together with my spirit guides to help me through the day to give me the courage and strength to see the larger picture and to stay grounded in love and light.”

Opportunity comes fast and furious
Posted by Intuition Girl
Have you ever noticed that when opportunity arises, it’s never in “our time”? Rather, it comes at sometimes the most “inopportune” times – meaning that we’re often not prepared to receive it and use it to our advantage.
Here’s a great example: An individual I know (we’ll call him Dan) had a fairly-good career, but he was pining to move to another part of the country to be near the rest of his family. Dan had begun submitting resumes to different employers for a couple of months, when he suddenly got a phone call. In a twist of “unexpected” fate, he was offered the position he’d been trying to attain. Now Dan had to reshape all his current plans because the opportunity came so quickly. It took Dan a few days to make his decision to move, but only after he was caught so off guard. But was he really? You see, Dan had made the active decision months earlier to pursue another career. The intention was planted, and as time unfolded, his actions ruled his outcome – those actions transformed into his acquiring the job he sought.
Many times, we plant seeds of intention…unintentionally. What I mean by that is sometimes we start thinking about what we want; except when we do, we have planted a seed of intention. Intention turns to action, and action results in an equal reaction. The same holds true for ill thoughts. Unlike Dan, there are some people who bring negative results into their lives because they plant unhealthy seeds in their minds. If you can think it, it can happen. The whole point of the matter is that whatever you think, you become. So if your true intention and desire is to land the job of your dreams, you will subconsciously begin acting on that thought’s behalf. The same holds true for pessimism and procrastination. If you think that you “can’t” perform a certain job, or “I’ll never own a house,” or “I can’t get that promotion,” etc. — then guess what? You won’t.
Opportunity always comes fast and furious but we have to be ready to receive it. When we plant the seed of intention – for whatever that may be – we must realize that it will come. It may not magically appear overnight, but when opportunity does come knocking at life’s door, you’ve got to be mentally and intuitively prepared by opening your mind to the potential and blessings that are ready to come into your life.
What are you thinking at this moment? If you’re like Dan, you’re ready to acquire prosperity, wealth, and happiness. You can’t afford to not be prepared for opportunity. You know that whatever it is that your heart desires that you can attain it. But it begins with a seed of intention, and that intention requires action on your part. How far are you willing to go to land the job you’ve always wanted? How deep are you willing to dive to find that buried treasure? How long are you going to keep stopping yourself from achieving success? It really boils down to you. You are a walking billboard indicative of your life. What you project is just as important as what you take into your mind’s eye. When your perception of life is in tune with your focus of intention, you begin to rapidly increase your chances at opportunity. Go ahead – plant your seed for opportunities today. I know you can, and so do you.

Moving forward but something in my life is missing

Question # 2
Dear Joan Marie:
I am moving forward in my career and growing; however, I feel like something is still missing within me? I am out of balance with who I once was and who I am becoming. Can you help me to better understand what I need to do to fully step into my power and own all of who I am?
I truly am grateful for all the work you do. You are such a blessing to me in my life!
Thank you,
Suzanne D.
ANSWER
Dear Suzanne:
Thank you for your question. You are not alone; many others are experiencing the same feelings and seeking ways to better live in balance and harmony. While your career is growing and you are busy please remember that you still must take time for you, the spiritual side of you. It is so important for all of us to listen to our needs and understand what we must do to live a fulfilling life.
I feel as if you are lonely and not allowing yourself to be nurtured. Letting go is so important for all of us. Look at what you are holding onto and why? In order for us to fully embrace our true selves we must let go of the old ways that are not serving us and fully be in our truth. Spending time in nature and meditating on the scenery around you will benefit you greatly.
So many of us want to control everything in and around our lives; however, in doing this we are not allowing room for the Universe to work with and through us. What is it you are truly longing for in life? Have you made time available in your busy life to feed your soul? Are you available and open to this and do you feel worthy to enjoy its benefits?
Many Blessings,
Joan Marie, Intuition Girl

Professional Coaching: Overcoming Career Obstacles

Question # 1
Hello Joan Marie:
I wanted to thank you for the interesting information that was presented in your “Coaching Collection” CDs. I am learning a lot and hope your advice can help me in my life.
Joan Marie, please let me know if you can get any feelings regarding a home based business I just got into recently called ACN. I am working with a man named David. I know he wants to help further me in this business, but he can be very pushy, overpowering, and difficult to work with. He doesn’t listen to what I am telling him. I really needed his help to get this one person into my ACN business, but he was intimidated by her because she was so much better than him, and I finally lost her as a potential partner.
When I discussed the situation with him, he felt he was not at fault. He did ask me how I would feel if someone came into the business who was better than me. I told him I felt it would be an answered prayer and that I would be very appreciative of any knowledge that person could share with me so I could strengthen my marketing and presentation skills.
Do you see me able to get this business off the ground with him or not at all? Am I just wasting my time and money or do I really need to get out of this business while I can? I am also looking for work as a home health nurse and wanting to take courses and obtain certification as a medical billing and coding specialist. I am sending out my resumes whenever employment makes itself available. I am on the internet, phone, or going to different companies and asking if employment is available.
I have learning disabilities which is making it even harder to stay focused and concentrate. Only God knows how hard I am trying to improve my life and find happiness.
Please let me know about David. If I am misreading him, I need to know that. Do you see me working with him presently or in the future? There is another ACN group here in Arizona I can go to, but I don’t think they will be open to coach me in this business because they have their own team to recruit and teach. I was invited to come and learn with them and have gone to a couple meetings. But I am still trying to determine if this is the right place and right business I need to be in for passive residual income. I hope that you will see that employment is coming very soon, as my savings are decreasing as we speak.
Any advice or help from your intuitive heart would be sincerely appreciated. I welcome your comments and hope you will see the best for me in the coming weeks and in 2010.
Thank you, Joan, for all your help. Here’s wishing you all the success, joy and happiness in the New Year.
Blessings, Linda B.
ANSWER
Dear Linda:
Thank you for your email. I have never heard of ACN Group so I Googled it. It appears as though it is a pyramid program and some articles do not speak favorable about it. The best thing you can do is research them- investigate them and talk to the groups you are meeting with now and see who is making money, how much; and if this company is a good partner to help you to grow and succeed.
It sounds like to me that David has a strong Ego problem and feels insecure with strong women. Having said that, he may not have been the best person to assist you. You are creating a great deal of energy fighting with him instead of producing together. I would recommend you exploring other options and if you believe in this company and its potential, call the Company headquarters and let them know you are hungry to grow but you need a teacher and mentor to get you started because you wish this to be a win/win for all parties.
I would not spend too much more money with them but I would see who is there to help you grow and make back the money you put out and more if possible.
I do see you working and I like the idea of going back to school— you are a hard and honest worker. Please remember that it is important for you right now to keep your options open and let the Universe know you want to flow. Whatever emotion is creating struggle in your life right now needs to be released so you can be in better alignment for positive flow.
Keep listening to the Coaching Collection Series. It is packed with a plethora of information. The more you listen to the various topics, the more you will grow and learn; and your own personal confidence will get stronger.
Many Blessings,
